The Yorkshire Cancer Network (YCN) commissioned Quadrant to carry out
a survey of cancer awareness in the general public.
A total of 2396 people were interviewed in February 2010.
The Cancer Awareness survey is part of a cancer awareness and early diagnosis workstream
and is supported by Public Health Cancer Leads, Primary Care Cancer Leads and Hospital
Trusts across the YCN.
The survey results provide a benchmark of current awareness and will inform PCT
commissioning plans; health needs assessments and any subsequent interventions to
raise cancer awareness and encourage earlier presentation and diagnosis.
