To ensure accuracy in data collection it is requested that an audit form be completed for every patient discussed
at a colorectal MDT meeting with a current liver metastasis, at any stage in their treatment algorithm.
This is to assess what happens for all patients with colorectal liver metastases even if they are too unfit to be
considered for any surgery, if they decline intervention or seem to be clearly inoperable.
The background to the audit was the data produced from NYCRIS showing wide discrepancies in the UK in
apparent access to liver resection surgery for colorectal metastases. Encouragingly, the Yorkshire Cancer Network
fares better than most in this data.
This prospective audit is to assess the current situation for referral practice in the network more accurately.
