- To review the management of skin cancer against the cancer waiting times standards.
- To identify reasons for both actual full breaches and “near” breaches of the cancer standards for both melanoma and SCC patients.
- To provide a baseline position against which future audits can be compared.
- The results will be presented by each MDT to the YCN Skin Cancer Network Site Specific Group which will suggest possible changes in procedures.

The recent peer review visits identified a number of serious concerns relating to the Skin Cancer NSSG.
- Current clinical practice includes referral patterns outside of network agreed guidelines due to the perceived lack of capacity at the centre.
- There is an urgent need for a network audit of patient flows for block node dissections and sentinel node biopsies.
- This audit has been developed to address these concerns.
- To examine and map referral pathways for all first and subsequent treatments of newly diagnosed malignant melanoma between 1st January 2010 and the 30th June 2010.
- To address the serious concerns identified by Peer Review to reassure the YCN Management Board that all melanoma skin cancer patients are being managed appropriately and according to YCN guidelines.
